Web hosting domain registrar Go Daddy today announced that dotMobi’s mobile website tool Instant Mobilizer is now available on GoDaddy.com. Instant Mobilizer is a mobile website creation tool, which dotMobi claims can automatically convert any on-line site into a mobile device optimised version.
The deal is that if you sign up for a .mobi domain through Go Daddy, Instant Mobilizer is thrown in for free. Instant Mobilizer was launching in February this year, and requires no technical knowledge or development skills for conversion to take place.

“In an increasingly competitive domain industry, dotMobi is excited to work with Go Daddy to remove the barriers to mobile Web adoption by giving businesses of all sizes the tools to easily and quickly build a mobile presence,” said Trey Harvin, CEO of dotMobi. “Historically, it has been difficult for small and medium sized businesses to create a mobile-friendly Web site because of the time and technical knowledge required.”

More and more people - especially Internet-savvy Go Daddy customers - are linked to the Web through their mobile phones and with Instant Mobilizer, businesses can be sure anyone can get to their site, even on the go,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “Our goal at Go Daddy has always been to help people get online easily and affordably. Instant Mobilizer does just that.”

What we think?

Services like this have their good points and their bad points. On the one hand, it’s rash and egotistic of dotMobi to claim you have the “one stop” solution to mobile website creation. If there’s one thing I’ve heard said time and again, it’s that mobile website creation hasn’t been nailed yet - that you can’t apply just one yard-stick to the process and declare the job done. On the other hand, a major barricade to the creation of mobile websites (especially for merchants, or other non-techy types) is the horrible complexity of the process. It’s just not easy to do. So any service that simplifies the process, even if results in impefect websites, is a good step.
